Voters urged to choose BKK candidate from policies

(30/01/13) Bangkok residents have been advised to select their favorite candidates for the Bangkok gubernatorial election by considering practical policies rather than political publicity and presentations.

Speaking at a seminar arranged by Suan Sunandha Rajabhat (สวนสุนันทา ราชภัฎ) University today, former Bangkok governor candidate Prof. Kriangsak Charoenwongsak (เกรียงศักดิ์ เจริญวงศ์ศักดิ์) said that unlike other countries, no debates are held for candidates publicly advertise their visions to an audience in order to persuade their vote.

Former senior editor of Matichon (มติชน) newspaper Boonlert Khachayuthadech (บุญเลิศ คชายุทธเดช) said that the media reports election related news without going into details about policies which give very little to encourage voters in casting their ballots.

Meanwhile, Deputy Rector of Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University Somdech Rungsrisawad (สมเดช รุ่งศรีสวัสดิ์) encouraged the public to choose their candidate by considering realistic policies.

A recent survey by the National Institute of Development Administration showed that 23.82 % of the respondents chose Pheu Thai candidate Police General Pongsapat Pongcharoen (พงศพัศ พงษ์เจริญ) while his rival Democrat candidate MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra (สุขุมพันธุ์ บริพัตร) was favoured by 19.16%. However, nearly half of the respondents remain undecided.
